Who are we?

Global Travel Vaccinations is an associate clinic of the Tropical Medical Bureau franchise. Currently there are twenty Tropical Medical Bureau clinics nationwide.

Our Doctors

  • Dr. Nick Flynn
Dr. Nick Flynn is a graduate of the Medical School at University College, Cork, who brings a wealth of experience and skills obtained through hands-on involvement in many diverse aspects of modern Family Medicine.

Dr. Flynn’s post-graduate clinical experience in areas such as obstetrics, paediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, and rheumatology has given him a solid foundation for his work as a General Practitioner.

Dr Flynn is also a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine which helps him keep abreast of the rapidly changing world of travel medicine.

Dr Flynn has over 10 years experience in clinical medicine. His interest in travel health led him to open a dedicated travel health and vaccination clinic in Summer 2007. In the past year the clinic has gone from strength to strength and to date over 1000 consultations have taken place.

Where are we?

We are directly opposite the College Of Commerce at Union Quay, and adjacent to Cork’s new School Of Music. Click here to view our location on a map

What services do we offer?

As a Global Travel Vaccinations client, you receive a full consultation with the doctor and nurse, detailing health risks associated with your trip. This covers anything from DVT, food and water risks, altitude, long-haul flights etc, as well as deciding which vaccinations and malaria tablets are appropriate. This will take on average 40 minutes. When you leave our clinic, you will have detailed leaflets on your itinerary, a personal health passport, and other relevant literature.

As an Associate Clinic of the Tropical Medical Bureau, Global Travel Vaccinations offers a 24 hour emergency phone line, just in case you are worried about anything after your vaccinations, we also provide a full backup service by email and telephone while you are travelling. Our patients can use this 24/7 service to contact us while they are overseas if they have any sickness.

All Tropical Medical Bureau centres use a specialised computer system called Exodus Global Explorer™; this has a number of advantages for you including:
  • Your records can be accessed from any of our centres; you don’t need to come to the same centre each time.
  • As a TMB client, when you call us we have instant access to your records
  • We keep a comprehensive record of your vaccination history

Why choose Global Travel Vaccinations for all your travel health requirements?

  1. Only one consultation fee
On your first visit to Global Travel Vaccinations you will be charged a consultation fee and also for the vaccines you receive. If there are subsequent vaccinations/visits required for this course, you are NOT charged a consultation fee again. You will however have to pay for vaccines administered after each visit.
  2. Very latest information and advice
Through our specialised software Exodus Global Explorer™, we receive hundreds of latest travel news items directly, so if there is anything happening in your chosen destination that you need to know about, we make sure you do!
  3. Vaccine Stocks
Tropical Medical Bureau centres all stock the full range of travel vaccines, so no need for waiting - Click here for further information on vaccines in stock
  4. Prompt appointments
We understand that your time is precious and it is our aim to see you promptly.
  5. Value for money

Please let our secretary know that your enquiry relates to health screening pre or post travel.
  1. Pre - travel screening checks
Pre - travel screening checks will include a full physical assessment including suitability to live and work in developing country settings, laboratory investigations as well as pre-travel advice
  2. Post - travel screening checks
Post-travel screening checks will be offered to returned travellers who are feeling unwell to detect parasitological infections such as malaria, schistosomiasis, filariasis, helminth and other skin and bowel infections.

What vaccines do I need for my proposed travel itinerary?

This is difficult to answer comprehensively without a face to face consultation. What vaccines you need will depend on your destination, your previous vaccination record, your trip duration, your accommodation type, your holiday activities and many more. However, as a guideline click on the following link – country & vaccine information from tmb.ie, and enter your travel itinerary.

Will I need to take anti-malarial medication?

Again you will need to discuss this with your doctor. However, as a guide you may click onto - www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk. Enter your destination and click on malaria map.
